Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some Frequently Asked Question about functional fitness and Legitimus Fitness.

Please contact us with any additional questions you may have.

What is functional fitness?

Is Functional Fitness Safe?

Is Functional Fitness for me?

Yes. Everyone can do functional fitness regardless of age, injuries and current fitness levels. The program is modified for each person to help him or her safely become healthier and fitter. Grandparents and Olympians can perform modified versions of the same general workout.

Do I need to be in shape to start ?

No. Functional fitness is the program that will get you in shape. No matter what your current fitness level is, you can start. As you become fitter, workouts will become more challenging. Every workout is designed to help you succeed, improve fitness and move you toward your goals.

Functional fitness trains your body for everyday activities by mimicking real-life movements like squatting, pulling, pushing, and lifting, making daily tasks easier and safer, and reducing injury risk by building strength, balance, and coordination through multi-joint exercises rather than isolating single muscles. It focuses on practical, usable strength for things like carrying groceries, climbing stairs, or picking up children, using movements that mirror natural human patterns.

Yes. Functional fitness training is very safe, and sitting on your couch is actually incredibly dangerous. At Legitimus Fitness, credentialed trainers provide precise instructions and coaching to help people move safely and efficiently, helping people avoid all the diseases that come from inactivity, obesity and poor nutrition.

Do you offer open gym hours?

No, we do not currently offer open gym hours. We believe the true heart of our programming is with an instructor led, group class format. This provides for a safe and competitive environment with intensity that can not be replicated in an open gym setting

Is there an age requirement?

We generally suggest that our youngest members be 13 years old. Parents/guardians are more than welcome to participate with their children or wait while their child works out. We do offer family plan packages. Please visit the Rates link for pricing.

We do not have a maximum age requirement. We do assess physical fitness and mobility upon purchasing a membership so that we can prescribe movements and loads that are safe for any member, regardless of age.
